About Our AMC ECG Leadwire System (AMC LWS)

Electrocardiography is often the first step in detecting and treating a huge range of cardiovascular illnesses and anomalies, from simple arrhythmias to more significant underlying conditions.

Oftentimes, this simple, painless, noninvasive procedure is the key to detection, effective treatment, and in some cases, potentially even prevention.

Yet physicians around the world are in many ways affected by the quality of the medical equipment they enlist. Our AMC ECG Leadwire system (AMC LWS) stands to revolutionize electrocardiography, not only in terms of ease of use, but through infection prevention, compatibility with existing workflows and equipment, and advanced cost-efficiencies. Here’s what it offers.

Single-Patient Use and Superior Infection Prevention

Reusable ECG leadwires, despite the fact that they have been touted for their scalability and cost-efficiencies, are linked to increased infection risks.1 Our AMC single-patient use ECG leadwires are designed to combat that danger.

More than one study has discovered the presence of dangerous microbes on ECG leadwires or electrodes, even after they have been cleaned. Moreover, cross-infection can arise from the reuse of ECG leadwires, even with disinfection protocols in place. This is especially the case when subjecting patients of coronary surgeries to ECG testing after the procedure, in which case the electrodes may be placed close to an incision site.2

Adding to this concern is the fact that some studies have detected the presence of dangerous, antibiotic-resistant microbes on ECG electrodes. One study determined that the origin of vancomycin-resistant enterococci, surprisingly, was a contaminated ECG leadwire.

Even with such a noninvasive procedure, there are still considerable risks associated with reusable ECG electrodes. Our single-patient use system helps combat these challenges.

Improved Patient Flow Efficiency

                  ECG Leadwire

Our AMC ECG Leadwire System is also designed to deliver significantly improved process and patient flow efficiencies, across the facility.

The AMC LWS specifically enables the standardization of one set of leadwires for use across the facility, from admittance through recovery, for advanced, streamlined efficiency.

These leadwires can travel with the patient; they can be unplugged and simply attached or reattached to a monitor as needed, saving time, and effort, and eliminating the risk of cross-contamination.

We call this the “Intrahospital Continuum of Care,” which involves only one leadwire per patient that can be connected and disconnected as needed, regardless of whether the patient is critical care unit, recovering, or being transported between areas of the facility.

Perhaps most importantly with respect to improving workflows, these ECG leadwires are cross-compatible with a wide range of equipment.

Compatibility with Existing Equipment

Our AMC ECG Leadwire System also exhibits impressive standardization, making it compatible with a wide range of monitors and other equipment.

This makes the system impressively scalable, as one set of leadwires can be plugged directly into bedside monitors, telemetry systems, and defibrillators, with minimal or no adapters or ECG cables necessary to accommodate them.

These leadwires only require you to connect to the existing trunk cable and are compatible with a wide range of established monitor brands, substantially streamlining inventory management.

Optimized Design

The AMC ECG LWS also boasts an optimized design that is superior to alternative solutions on numerous bases.

Our unique, proprietary system is easier for staff to use and clean. The design features fewer crevices that can trap and harbor dirt and other debris. Moreover, an enhanced shower shield improves the water resistance of these ECG leadwires, enhancing their overall durability.

The design also features secure connections that cannot be accidentally disconnected. Even the wire’s design is superior; the ribbon wire used in the AMC LWS system is superior to round wire and is less likely to become tangled.

The AMC LWS also utilizes a 360° pinch clip design that also offers significant advantages. It offers a clear view of the electrode and does not require you to press down to achieve a secure electrical connection; simply close the clip around the electrode and the clip will secure the connection.

This unique interface also offers 360° of mobility, ensuring the leadwire stays connected, even when patients move. It even offers better conductivity, thanks to the metal-on-metal interface. This, in turn, improves signal fidelity and quality, and is less likely to incur lead displacement alarms.

Enhanced Cost Efficiency

                ECG Leadwire

The AMC LWS is also designed to enable facilities to realize significant cost efficiencies, even when compared to reusable ECG leadwires.

This intuitive ECG leadwire design ensures staff familiarity throughout the facility, requiring minimal training, while the unique design allows the establishment of strong, secure connections necessary to take high-quality biosignal recordings.

With this single-use LWS, there are no costs associated with cleaning or processing, not to mention the elimination of infection risk associated with reusable alternatives.

Reusable ECG leadwires are associated with cost-prohibitive cleaning and processing procedures as well as heightened infection risks - making our single-use LWS cost-neutral at worst and cost-saving at best by comparison.

Our system also does not require special adapters or cable extensions, streamlining inventory management since one cable can be used with many different monitors.
